Describe yourself as a counselor and your vision of counseling. 1) Include personal background (values, beliefs, experiences) and how this shapes your identity, 2) how the development of counseling skills may be helpful to you personally both within your personal and work life, 3) your beliefs about counseling, 4) your view of how/why people change, plus 5) your counseling experiences. Do not make this a recitation of facts, rather try to convey your enthusiasm about why you want to be a counselor (and/ or how you plan to use these skills) and what experiences and strengths, as well as areas of growth you bring to working with clients.
