Chapter Three Key Elements

Chapter Three Key Elements

Directions

The following key elements of Chapter 3 will be submitted this week: 1) Introductory paragraph; 2) Methodology: and 3) Design.

  1. Introductory paragraph: 15 page, no citations. Include a clear, concise purpose statement (your latest, best version!)
  2. Methodology: % page, citations as applicable. This section should include a description of what method you will use to gather/analyze project data.
  3. Design: Page length as needed/no citations. Overall, writing this section is like painting a picture of your project for the reader. Include the following elements: a) setting: b) sample, including anticipated number, anticipated characteristics (age/gender/race), inclusion criteria (justify the criterial, and exclusion criteria (justify the criteria) (Note: Exclusion criteria are not the opposite of inclusion criteria) and c) specific steps involved in the project, beginning with recruitment (as applicable), and ending with data collection. Stop and think about what you will actually be doing as part of the project or what you are asking your participants to do. If this is a prospective study, you will want to think carefully through the recruitment process and outline that fully. How will you recruit? Will you use fliers or the phone (if the phone, you will need a recruitment script). Will the consent by written or verbal? Who will do the consenting, when, and where? If this is retrospective, discuss de-identification of the data. When outlining the steps, I recommend you use a listing format
