Instructions: This vignette assignment is designed to lay the foundation for the final paper of this class by having you apply a theoretical orientation to a short client vignette.
Theory Conceptualization and Integration Paper assignment is designed to lay the foundation for the final paper of this class by having you apply a theoretical orientation to a short client vignette and begin to flex your conceptualizing and treatment planning muscle with a theory of choice.
You will use one theoretical orientation from Units 4 and 5 (Existential Approach, Gestalt Approach, Behavior Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy or Family Systems Theory).
Vignette Assignment Two
Requirements include
- A brief description of the theory, main constructs, and overview of treatment approach
- Application of constructs to the case you have chosen
- Description of the treatment approach based on the theory
- Cultural considerations, namely the benefits or limitations in using this theory given this particular client’s cultural background and identity
- APA style, graduate level writing

Vignette Assignment Two
The pacing of these is spaced so that you will learn about a few theories and can use any of those we have covered for your paper. You are not expected to be experts, but you do need to ensure you follow the rubric closely so that nothing is missed. Keep in mind, as you think about how problems develop, are maintained or made worse, and how they resolve, you always want to go back to examine your values surrounding this and how they influence your developing theoretical understanding.
Using any of the vignettes posted in class, but not the one you used for Vignette 1. If you are a school counseling student, please choose a case that is 18 or under. Students will pick one of the posted vignettes to use for each assignment. You will use one of theoretical orientations discussed in class to date to construct a short- term and long-term intervention for the client presented. The rubric used for this assignment is linked below. The assignment will not exceed three pages in length; successful papers will integrate theory, client evidence, and application of theory to practice
