Module 4 Critical Thinking

Purpose

Read the Case Scenario at the end of Chapter 6. Answer the four critical thinking questions at the end of the chapter.

Case Scenario

You have a part-time job during the summer working at a summer camp with adolescents who range in age from thirteen to sixteen. You have noticed that those teenagers who are active in sports in school tend to feel better about themselves, have more self-confidence, and in general are happier in life. You decide to test out your beliefs by developing a survey to distribute to the various attendees at the camp.

Check tips on how to do your Psychology Assignment.

You ask several demographic questions such as gender (male/female), age, and ethnicity. You ask as an independent variable their participation in school sports (“Do you participate in any organized sport at school?” Yes/No). And you ask the following dependent variables: “On the whole, I am happy with myself,” “Overall, I am a worthwhile person,” “I am generally satisfied with who I am,” etc. Each of these questions has a response of 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree) with categories in-between of agree, neutral, agree, and so forth.
