Organizational Analysis Paper
Instructions: Apply the social systems model to any real-life organization (e.g. college, work setting, church, political entity, social service agency, etc.) of your choosing. Organizational analysis papers must address the content requested, in the order listed below. This paper is to be completed individually, typed in 12-point font, double-spaced and a minimum of 6 pages. Papers must also include the sub-headings identified in bold, be typed in paragraph format, and each page numbered. Your first/last name, date and SOCW 347 should be typed into the upper right-hand corner as your ‘header’. Citations and a reference page are required for this paper, in correct APA format.
Use the following framework below for your application of the model:
Organizational Analysis: “Place the title of your organization here”
Introduction
- Identify the type of organization that you are about to model as a social
- Provide brief background information about this
- Which organizational theory is most applicable? Discuss why you selected this theory?
Boundary
- Discuss what a boundary is and its role within the social system
- Identify your organization’s boundary and reasons why you believe this is a
- Identify and discuss specific boundary maintenance behaviors that support the boundary you have identified in this organization.

Suprasystem
- Discuss what a suprasystem is and its role within the social system
- Identify a minimum of two interactions that are derived from your organization’s
- Discuss how these two interactions 1) mutually determinative (cause and effect) and

- Are the interactions between your organization and its suprasystem cooperative or conflictual? Discuss your selection and why you believe this to be the case.
Interface
- Discuss what an interface is and its role within the social system
- Identify one interface between your organization and one of the interactions you identified in the suprasystem in Section C (2).
- Discuss what turbulence exists at the interface that you identified in D (2) and why it is turbulent.
