- Trends and Challenges: What trends and challenges in healthcare costs have occurred in your organization in the last two to five years?
- Differences in Payment Methods: Describe the differences in payments for services depending upon who pays the bill (the individual receiving the services [private pay), Medicare or Medicaid, or private insurance). Is there a dominant payor in your organization?
- How do these factors play a role in the organization’s overall financial health? How does this affect the cost of care to the patient? Does this affect the sustainability of your potential DNP project? Why or why not?

- Describe the leadership and organizational structures in your organization. Indude an organizational chart. Who provides overall direction for the organization? Who are the role models? Describe their style of leadership.

- Describe the organizational culture of your setting. Include overt and covert rules, values, customs, and principles that guide organizational behavior.
- Describe the work unit climate. Include such things as the degree of collegiality and teamwork.
- What are the systems for rewards and performance appraisal? Briefly describe the role of the human resources department. How visible is it to employees?
- How are the individual needs and values of employees recognized? Describe the morale and motivation of staff.
